Terms & Conditions


  • To book a course please complete the online booking form. Your booking will normally be confirmed within a few hours.
  • A 60 Euro deposit is required for people booking a course.
  • A deposit may be required for people booking accommodation.
  • The deposit can be paid by bank transfer or by credit card. .
  • The balance is payable before the start of your course.
  • If your chosen accommodation is not available we will send you suggestions for available accommodation. Naturally you can cancel your booking at no charge if your required accommodation is not avaiable.


  • Each lesson is 45 minutes.
  • Lessons are from Monday to Friday.
  • Students can begin on any day between Monday and Friday (excluding holidays).
  • Course fees include placement tests, tuition, course certificate and Internet use.
  • Course fees do not include the cost of activities, registration, insurance, bank charges, exam fees or course material.
  • A nominal charge of € 25 is made for course materials. When a student moves up a level a new book costs €20.
  • If there is only one participant in a group, the school reserves the right to reduce the number of lessons by 50%.
  • The maximum class size in our standard General English courses is 8 (from November to March) or 10 (from April to October). The school reserves the right in exceptional circumstances to increase this number.


  • Examination fees are not included in course fees.
  • If you wish to do an examination at the end of your course, please write this on the booking form. Details how to register will be then sent to you.
  • The school does not register students for exams.
  • Places for exams are limited. Early registration for exams is recommended.
  • Examination bodies occasionally cancel a published exam date.


  • The school is closed on Saturday and Sunday and public holidays.
  • There is no reduction in the course fees where a course includes a public holiday, but lost lessons will be made up on the other days.
  • If there are 2 public holidays in one week, lessons for one day will be made up and a free tour offered for the second day.

  • We expect students to behave well and attend lessons.
  • Students attending at least 80% of the course will be eligible to a certificate of attendance.
  • There are no refunds for students who start their courses late, finish early or miss lessons..

Activity packages

  • The school reserves the right to change the activities included in activity packages.

Course cancellations

  • There is no cancellation fee for course cancellations received in writing more than 7 working days before arrival.
  • There is no refund for courses cancelled after commencement.
  • The course deposit is non-refundable.

Accommodation cancellations

  • For cancellations received in writing more than 14 working days before arrival there is no cancellation fee.

  • If accommodation is cancelled less than 15 working days before arrival or after arrival a cancellation fee may apply. The fee will depend on the school's contract with the individual accommodation provider.
  • The school reserves the right to charge a € 20 processing fee for accommodation changes & cancellations.

Price Calculator

  • The calculator displayed on this website is under development and may contain errors.
  • Naturally you can cancel your booking if your invoice differs from the price displayed.
  • The calculator is for student use only.
  • Courses and accommodation are subject to availability at the time your booking is processed.


  • We strongly advise you to take out adequate insurance

Airport Transfer

  • Flight details should be received at least 7 days before arrival.
  • Students must call our emergency number with any last minute flight changes.


  • If a student has a complaint about their stay, this must reported immediately to the ELA department concerned.
  • Complaints received after course finish will not be considered.


  • Links to external websites are provided for your convenience only and we do not take responsibility for the content of third party websites or endorse them.

Accommodation Ratings

  • Maltese accommodation star ratings may be of a different standard to your own country.
  • These ratings may change at any time during the year. The star rating displayed on this website may not be current.


  • The Maltese government has introduced an ECO Tax for all tourists aged 18 years and over.

  • The charge is € 0.50 per night, however, the maximum charge is € 5.00 for the total stay.

  • The tax is collected by the accommodation establishments themselves with the exception of homestays.

  • ELA will collect the tax directly from students booking homestay accommodation on the first day of school.

  • The invoice you receive does not include the ECO Tax.


  • All disputes are to be settled by Maltese law.
  • The school will not be held responsible for loss or theft of any student's property from the school, accommodation or elsewhere.
